Will Liverpool FC be able to lure Edinson Cavani to Anfield?

On January 27, 2012, we wrote about the reported transfer rumours linking Edinson Cavani of Napoli to Liverpool FC. Now, the transfer news has reemerged as GiveMeFootball.com reported on the 16th of March that Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool FC were in attendance for the Chelsea/Napoli match at Stamford Bridge on March 14th.

These transfer rumours should excite Liverpool supporters as Cavani has netted 44 times in 61 appearances for Napoli after signing a five year deal in June of 2010. Mr. Cavani has concocted an impressive average of .72 goals per matchLFC could certainly use a return of that quality, and I sound like a broken record here, but a lack of goals has hampered the Reds ability to earn maximum points in the Premier League on numerous occassions.

Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli may find it hard to convince Cavani, a Uruguay International, to come to a club that is in more of a rebuilding phase. After getting a taste of the UEFA Champions League, he may snub Liverpool in favor of an established squad who are challenging for the CL trophy.  That being said, if Liverpool FC were to win the FA Cup this season in addition to the League Cup already in the trophy case, Dalglish & Co. may be able to lure Cavani to Merseyside with the help of his compatriots already in the squad: Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates.  Should Liverpool FC do the cup double this season, Cavani and other potential transfer targets may see that as a sign of good things to come, as well as a statement of ambition and a testament to the existing quality and character of the club.

The transfer rumour linking Edinson Cavani to Liverpool FC is a welcome one in my eyesCavani has got a lethal eye for goal and would slot in nicely with Luis Suarez.

What are the chances of Cavani to Liverpool FC?  Are these Cavani transfer rumours ever going to happen? Let us know what you think below or in the forums!

Will Liverpool finish in the top four this season?
