Arminia Bielefeld extended with regular goalkeeper Martin Fraisl

Came from Schalke 04 in the summer

Shortly before the match against SV Sandhausen, Arminia Bielefeld announced that starting goalkeeper Martin Fraisl was going to extra time. The 29-year-old came to Ostwestfalen on a free transfer from FC Schalke 04 last summer and has been between the posts a total of 13 times since then, twice without conceding a goal. The second-division side didn’t say how long the Austrian has been level but it was ‘long term’.

“Martin Fraisl is a high-level artist and a popular figure. With his abilities, personality and charisma, he is a fixed point in our team, with great value on and off the pitch. With his contract extension, he is clearly committed to Arminia Bielefeld and our common path for the future, » said sporting director Samir Arabi.

Fraisl added: « It was an easy decision for me to extend my contract here long-term. A combination of a lot of great people around the team, the many passionate Arminia fans and the great appreciation I feel here every day makes Arminia a very special club for me. The talks with Samir Arabi were very confident, constructive and convincing. It quickly became clear to me that this club wanted to take a path that coincided with my ambitious ideas and for which it absolutely worth the investment.
